Oct 13th

Rcn AGM

October 8th

Bradford Diocesan day and Gerald and I manned our Reader stall. I took a taxi to the day and Gerald and Gill dropped me back home afterwards.

The morning’s keynote talk by Bishop Nick was inspiring and the afternoon Mass celebrated by + Nick with Paul preaching an uplifting ceremony.

(The Reader display boards will now go from my car to HT for Keith’s talk on Tuesday)

Oct 7th. Bella started her medication and antibiotics, and things appear to be progressing well for her now.

Managed to get the puppy pen set up in the front room

Pickle quickly got to know an old friend from Red’s time --- the yellow checked Dachshund, while Poppy thought she’d try eating the cardboard box bed in the pen

Both puppies watch the room outside

Poppy falls asleep on the toy while Pickle was asleep in the box

Oct 4th. Good session with Fr Andrew re my future working agreement for the parish.

Oct 3rd.

Bella and Seffy had health checks. Bella still bleeding so Kevan will have her in for tests, etc on Thursday

My energy still low and so still afraid I have to miss some meetings and other commitments.

Oct 2nd was Sara and Jim’s nuptial Mass and guess who forgot camera!!!!

Oct 1st.

Hetty and Bella enjoyed the Animal Blessing service at St Chad’s and I managed to get a photo for the T&A.

Week from Sept 26th

Kevan judged St Chad’s photo competition --- judging delayed by my illness

I got the calendar done and some of the Christmass cards with Hetty at the 1010/11 crib and Kathleen helped me get everything to St Chad’s on Friday in readiness for their W/E.

Sept. 24th Bradford Reader conference AGM and service of admission at Giggleswick

Thanks to Jean and Richard I got to the day and managed to do all I should.

Photo of our new Readers with our new Bishop, Nick and Warden Chris

Apologies and thanks

From Sept 5th apart from essential animal care I did very very little: being too ill after accidentally being given a drink containing gluten --- did ‘phone GP after 10days and then talked with Dr Andy as needed -- from then very slow recovery --- best part of 4 weeks the bedroom was the main place for us, and nothing proper eaten for over 3 weeks

Necessary letters sent about my move from St. Chad’s to Holy Trinity

So apologies to anybody who expected to see me at meetings, functions, etc. We even missed Nidderdale!!!!

A big thank you to Nicola (Lilycroft) for the lovely flowers and to Pauline and Colin for all the help.

Colin managed to get the pups down to the kitchen --- The ruby enjoyed a cuddle, while the tri tries to work out an escape route!!!!!

Sept. 3rd.

Hetty and Bella made their very first trip to the new parish --- it was the late summer Fayre at St Wilfred’s (Parish is HT Bingley, St W Gilstead and St A)

They sat happily in the cage beside the stall I helped on, and made numerous new friends.

August 16th/17th

A night of trauma. Rushed Bella to Vets Now after phoning them at by 22.50 and was there by 23.15 at latest, but had to wait my ‘turn’ so not seen until near midnight and poor little Bella very distressed and bleeding --- After -4.30 we came home with a very sad little girl and no puppies --- there were 2: but neither survived. There is much one can say, but those who need to know already know the full story. And we have emailed the BCC programmer --- what happened to TRIAGE!!!!!!! (May I stress the young Vet was excellent and did not know Bella’s situation until we went through the surgery door)

Seffy’s pups at 10 days are doing really well and feed noisily at times

10 days old

Managed to get all the photocopying and envelopes filling down at Kadugli --- then noted the few errors. Sadly my usual proof readers were not available. Still, at least all got posted off for the Bradford AGM., etc.

Aug 13th

Pups doing well

Aug 11th

took Bella for a scan --- did not feel I was allowed to be part of same, as I have always held my girls before. But the appointment had started badly when the Vet thought Bella was only 4 weeks when she was even booked for an 8 week scan. It appears there is only one large puppy, so we watch with care. EDD officially Aug 19th

August

Patti and canines

Aug. 9th

GP agreed I still have some cellulitis in left leg post June injury and wound not 100% healed. Anyway its back on antibiotics. Then went on the HT.

Had booked scans for the girls, but Seffy started in early labour late on the 9th. (EDD 12th) She delivered 2 very large but healthy females --- to my excitment a ruby female and then a prettily marked Tri girl. Then there was the usual lull and sleep before she began again. After 2 hours it was the emergency call and down to SVCC in Pauline's car, plus the 2 puppies in a cat carrier. The Vet, Sarah was brilliant but could not help the puppy along.

So we left her having signed the necessary forms, just in case.

Seffy had the usual injection and was scanned while that began to have effect. They could see the pup was dead but with a lot of help she did deliver him by the normal route and an x-ray was taken to be sure there was no other pup. I was so pleased to hear she had been allowed to clean him and grieve before the 2 girls went back to her.

I think the nurses enjoyed the 2 little puppies.

Sarah -- thank you for your outstanding care of my little Seffy. Thanks to all others at SVCC as well.

Hetty meets the ruby

Bella meets the Tri

August 4th

Hetty making good progress as we saw Kevan today and are to go back on the 18th.

Later--- thanks to Colin and Pauline for getting the whelping box set up for me. It was done after all 4 CKCS had 'paw-di-cures' from me with Pauline nursing alongside

August 2nd

Also had a phone call from the garage as I had won the handmade 'Teddy' in the Manorlands grand draw, so we collected him too

Our blackbirds

After the first photo was shown earlier I saw a strange fledgling in the nest alongside the 3 eggs being sat on.

Does any one know what it was?

A few days later I came back to very distressed adult birds : We believe that some local children forced their way over Martin's fence, damaging various items in both gardens --- and taking the eggs and the fledgling.

I did not expect to see the parents again although they were using a nest previously used in 2010.

To my joy I realised the hen was sitting once more, and once more she had 3 eggs. We added windmills and other items to make entry to the garden almost impossible and she successfully kept the 3 eggs. One day I was by the nest when a newly hatched fledgling fell out of the nest --- she calmly let me put it back.

A week or so later after very high winds 2 fledglings were on the ground --- both gasping, so indoors they came and I set up a floating warmed incubator. Having tried everything I could think of for a bird I resorted to the tiniest drop of Rescue Remedy on the lower beak of the larger one and it worked. I gave a little milky drop and it was swallowed. Once I felt I had done the best I could I took it to the nest, and at first the hen was a little fractious, but then let me slip the fledgling in beside her.

I also used a garden brush to support the nest in case of further winds

(Sadly the other one was tiny and immature in comparison and had not even begun to grow feathers; there was some blood on it and I could not revive him for more than a few seconds.)

You will see a photo clearly showing 2 baby beaks --- the one I had nurtured and the 3rd one. Then one morning I saw a tiny bird flying alongside a male blackbird and the second dithering on the edge of the nest --- I did not have the camera with he me, but it was so wonderful to see the parents with 2 normal chicks able to fly away normally.

I wonder if they will be back in 2012

Sunday July 24th

was a special day as many of us went to St Barnabas Church, Heaton for the retirement Holy Communion of the Rev'd Canon Rod Anderson celebrated by himself. Rod was very helpful back in the early 1990s when as Rural Dean he guided us through the interregnum in Manningham. He was then one of my tutors on the Reader Course and has since been good friend. It was a true celebration and good to be there

After we went to the village hall opposite for a more informal event and tables almost groaning with the mountains of food made by parish members.

I was pleased when the photograph I took was used in the T&A.

Rod with past and present clergy for Heaton

Last 2 days appeals to come and then apart from a few meetings there is, at last, time to get the house in order and paper for MASTS and the Rcn up to date --- and the Reader papers underway for the AGM

July 21st

I left the girls at SVCC and was at school by 08.40hrs with time to spare. There was a chance to have a brief catch up with Nicola and Teresa and then in was the 'leavers' assembly, held in 2 parts with the first being the children saying their farewells to Paul Barker before his presentation. Year 6 then gave their own farewell acts and a selection of amusing 'Oscars' were presented to some pupils. I then had the chance to give my main prizes to the winners of the competition, and then take part in the farewells, signing pupils sports shirts and getting photographed quite a few times. Left the other certificates and prizes with the 2 male teachers to give out before the children leave today.

The winners for the had written entries were: joint 1st Ayman Mahmood and Aishah Shabir, 2nd Zareena and a special prize for content to Saman. For the entries done using a computer the winners were 1st Murtaza Q and 2nd Hasnain of 6NS.

Collected the girls from SVCC --- Kevan took me in to see their x-rays, etc. Poor Hetty has developed canine cardiac failure and so we have three lots of medication. Assumpta has had a B12 injection, but then we have to wait for the various data to come from elsewhere

We have previously done a faecal pool collection from ALL the cats and it and Assumpta's own specimen showed nothing abnormal --- just 'normal flora' as they say.

Hetty came to the SADCA meeting and snuggled on a chair beside me on her vet bed, etc.

We then gave Seamus his pre-show shower ready for Bingley on Saturday

July 20th

Hetty came to Rcn at Iain's and when we got home I gathered up all the water and food to be sure she and Assumpta were 'nil by mouth' for tomorrow.

July 19th

after a full day it was good to go to Lilycroft for the KS2 performance of 'Robin the Hood'. What a superb evening. The hall was packed and proud parents, friends, staff, and just one other Governor had an outstanding evening.

July 17th

Hetty and I went to St Chad's 08.30 Mass and Hetty helped light her own candle for her investigations, etc.

On Monday Janet from SVCC rang and Hetty and Assumpta are now to go in for the day on Thursday so we have the right vets. It was Children's Trust this evening --- first time without the lead Councillor, but Kath Tunstall was good and the meeting valuable.

July 15th

It was good to be the Governor member of the interview team for the selection of a new Keystage 2 Assistant HT. The interviews were in Manningham Mill. I feel the teacher offered the post will have much to bring to Lilycroft when she starts in January 2012.

On the 14th of July,

with the car back took Hetty Bella & Seffy to SVCC to see Kevan --- Seffy's pregnant confirmed and 2 good embryos noted for Bella. Hetty has been unwell with ? breathing trouble for 2 - 3 days. Kevan was unsure what he heard on cardiac assessment, and so she and Assumpta will have the day in hospital for tests on Monday.

July 13th was a grand day.

Took car to garage for MOT and service (should have done MOT in June!!!! --- ooops) The garage got me back to Lilycroft School in good time before the Lord Mayor arrived a bit late. We had a happy pupil dressed as the 'mini Mayor' which was really good for children, parents and adults. So our entrance is officially OPEN and looking good. The Mothers and children were so happy, and then over traditional Lilycroft refreshments there was time to chat and hear various stories

As the Mayor amnd I are friends we sneaked the picture together which was really nice.

Then home for Seffy's birthday tea

July 6th Bella is 5 today

July 3rd

was Freddie's baptism, officially 12noon at St Chad's, after the Mass which overran as usual. There was a sumptuous buffet and Vicky had even had some G/Free cup cakes made for me. It was such a happy occasion and Freddie was a star.

July 2nd

A good Companion Dog Show. Alfie had a go in several classes. Pat brought Asti but could not stay, which was a shame as he looked glamorous. The girls went in the Club classes. I will get the winners sheet done, but possibly not until school term and July appeals over

Peter judged well and was liked by the competitors. Laura made the crossbreeds happy and Katie was a good judge for the handling classes

'getting ready for the class' -- Alfie in distance!!!

The Trufee family with their winnings

End of June

Getting everything ready for the companion dog show on July 2nd has gone pretty well

Enormous thanks to Vicky, Pauline and Colin for all the hard work with the rosettes and to Colin for getting more prizes.

So many rainbows in the Bradford sky this week

June 21st

Good coffee and cake am at HT. Finally got x-ray taken before 3 days of Appeals and evening meetings including Deanery Synod.

Hetty getting known by many now

June 17th

Kevan checked Bella's eyes today and we are using artificial tears in the hope she may get in whelp --- Left Bella with Derrick and Dorothy for mating with Fergie on Friday and just got to Cedar Court in Huddersfield in time for 1st address at the conference re Academies, etc.

A very interesting day and some good input, esp from the secondary head who had made his school a Trust first.

Took the opportunity to talk with Nicola re 2011/1012 academic year and 'future'

June 15th

Mass at St W before spiritual direction. Hetty liked the walk around

June 14th to HT

will take a cake next week as they are off to MU outing today. Had a good luncheon treat from Marie at the Tyke, and then took cake to Marian's to share after her HC

June 13th

GP, Andrew not too happy with Rx from Saturday. Redressed same between us and script for Erythromycin. Also x-ray form for right knee.

June 12th

and it's Humberside --- Bella is also in season, but I really want to take Hetty. Still, for once, I'm taking Marian's advice and in view of the wind and rain not going to the show. The leg is uncomfortable, but not my driving leg.

It was upsetting to hear that she might have at least got something as several bitches did not arrive for the 2 classes. Never mind, there is next year, or sooner at other shows and early 2012 if we have a 'puppy'

June 11th

The Day at Bolton Abbey was cancelled so I decided to catch up on housework and laundry --- late afternoon I fell on the back garden steps and gashed my left leg below the knee on the little wall. The girls dashed away from the blood. Any way a really necessary trip to A&E and we were back within 2 1/2 hours. A big thank you to Kathleen for taking me, staying and bringing me home.

The Nurse Practitioner (equal today to an F1) managed to drag the wound together with an elaborate arrangement of steristrips followed by a mass of dressing and bandages complete with 2 layers of tubigrip

--

A few meetings and day of appeals this week before Seffy was mated on Friday and all seemed to go well.

--

W/E June 4th 5th

was St Chad's garden Trail and we took part. All the tubs looked pretty good and having had Martin (Jr) and his friend Jason sorting out the trees and more in the back garden all that is left to do is the turf to lay in the back. Girls all bathed and beautiful as I'd got CKCS Humberside date muddled and is show next week. Even our nesting blackbird looked content and did not mind the occasional visitor peeping through to see.

Photo of nest

2 of the many tubs the week before

May 21st

At the end a full week I managed to get to the 3 coffee mornings and then to the cathedral with Jean and Richard for the enthronement of our new Diocesan Bishop, Nick. What a glorious day --- so many there from all corners of the diocese and far beyond as well as many ethnicities. Also a great day to see so many friends, esp Airedale Readers.

Inspiring for the week ahead of appeals

May 19th

my first meeting or SDCA on the estate. Interesting

May 18th

Patricia K and I collected the Christian Aid envelopes at the Tradesman's Homes

In the evening it was the Rcn meeting at Ian's and my computer had 'died' so to get the minutes printed together on the lap top was horrific for me --- I was so late to the meeting and Helen feeling I was lost text-ed and came to guide me to Iain's.

May 17th

My first Mass at Holy Trinity Bingley followed by much needed spiritual direction --- I think the frustrations and confused thoughts may become clearer now

May 6th

Hetty Nutmeg and I off to Holyhead for Dublin ferry. Crash on M62 meant had to give witness and help a little, so we just missed our ferry.

A helpful dock worker showed us where we could go for

food and I was amazed to get a G/Free sandwich. Then we dozed in the car and awaited the next ferry

A sleepy Hetty hopes the next ferry will be here soon!

here we go to the ferry

Hetty greets Nutmeg back to the car

our ship at Dublin Port

May 5th

Telling at Clayton Village Hall and then an evening at the Coins club. Even been lent a bright red pashmina for the dinner at the Irish Supreme Dinner on Saturday

May 1st

It was good to preach at Allerton once more and enjoy the companionship

April 25th --- Keighley Open Dog show

Seffy was placed in CKCS P/Grad and Bella in CKCS & Toy Open

Then we had a wonderful time when Hetty claimed BEST VETERAN --- so, dreams really do come true!!!!!

After we called in to see Pauline Colin Vicky and baby Freddie as they had come and watched us at the show seeing Bella and Seffy in the ring and then were off for a great long walk, taking Seffy as she was only in one class

Photo of Vicky's baby, Freddie

The day before the animals were quite bemused by the Easter Eggs!!!!!

--

The Lilycroft mothers are busy making a beautiful collage for the refurbishment of the school entrance hall. I even added a few stitches to the pink flower

April 12th

I went to Congress, joining the student nurses on the coach supplied through the Branch

The students get to Liverpool

Chatting with our Branch Chair and Rcn Council member, Anne

Rcn congress numbers

Then back to appeals

Friday April 8th

was the interview morning at Kadugli, --- it was so good to be involved in the appointment of someone for the Diocese's children and young people

Then Despina and I were off to Coventry for a truly good CRC conference and AGM. I drove and we did get a bit lost in the city and were so thankful for the off duty taxi drive who so generously went out of his way to show us the way to the hotel.

March 7th

The Cavaliers were off to Derrick & Dorothy as I was to be away for the Reader weekend, so having pushed for an new time fore the parish APCM I was unable to attend.

March 20th

What a week getting the boiler repair done --- not an event to repeat

March 14th

--- great news! We went to HVCC to see Kevan and Seffy's cysts were benign.

---

With Seffy and her stitches she has come out in the car with me quite a bit as Bella wants to remove them

She was very good at Mass and rested in the car all day for the Governor Study Day on March 11th.

(Children's Trust was stimulating on the 10th)

Seffy came to the St Chad's coffee morning and won a mug in the raffle --- handy as I had recently broken a favourite

Seffy and her prize

March 4th

Seffy to SVCC at 09.00 for surgery for the cysts and then I went to Women's World Day of Prayer service at Trinity Methodist Church opposite Lilycroft so slipped into school as well.

Picked Seffy up at 17.00hrs and good chat with Kevan --- wide excision of the cysts and so analgesia, etc.

A drowsy Seffy home from her day in hospital

March 3rd

Seffy to Kevan at SVCC re cyst as it seems larger and almost has 2nd area

Assumpta also also re her gastric problem and Pattie a check for her long-standing high nasal lesion

Feb 24th

after 2 funerals it was good to have a very enjoyable and relaxing meal at the Mumtaz with Joanna

Feb 7th

and a busy weeks with Governor's Training with Marie W, Appeals, Reader's Board, Lilycroft Governing Body meeting, AND THEN THE CAR TO THE GARAGE!!!

And then the next week as full with School Forum for nearly 5 hrs., MASTS, the garage again and more snow!!!!!

Off to St Matthew's Church, Westminster, London for CRC Magazine Editorial committee --- left home by 07.00hrs, but got home sooner than expected

Jan 28th

Readers' Board members and some spouses enjoyed a fantastic curry evening in Skipton

Jan 26th

Public Forum for Education re White Paper, so missed Deanery Synod

Jan 24th

was St James governing body

Week of Jan 17th

all the equipment is here to move to BT broadband as UKOnline ends by the end of January. Tim had helped me get same set up ready.

Jan 5th

Well I managed to make and deliver the Epiphany cake for St Chad's on the 6th but weather and health prevented and us from getting there for the service. Then losing my voice meant I even had to cancel a preaching engagement at Allerton ---- and then it was time for various days at School Appeals, etc.

 2nd of January

As well as celebrating 60 years of the 'Archers' on Radio 4 --- we enjoyed the Jan 2nd Evensong when Hetty made her homage at the crib
